Position Summary:

Creative Associates seeks a Private Sector Engagement (PSE) Specialist to support the implementation of the Inter-American Development Bank's (IDB) Comprehensive Rural Development and Productivity Project. The project's general objective is to sustainably increase the income of rural households in the Dry Corridor of Honduras. Its specific objective is to improve productive development in the project's target area by providing technologies, production-related technical assistance, and access to financing for the beneficiary population.

Reporting & Supervision:

The PSE Specialist will report to the Headquarters-based Project Director.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Build alliances with private firms, and private organizations, including financial institutions, operating in the Honduras private sector as means to create and strengthen market systems that facilitate the integration of producers and producers' organizations to target value chains; and
  • Develop and implement plans and strategies to engage municipalities, government organizations, universities, community leaders and other civil society organizations to support the Project activities to foster a competitive, inclusive, and productive environment for households, producers and producers' organizations, thus stimulating income generation and creating more economic opportunities for them.
    Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in economics, economic growth, agriculture business development or related field;

  • At least eight (8) years of experience with public private engagement in Honduras; at least five (5) years of experience with projects funded by international agencies, specifically the World Bank or IDB;

  • Experience working with local and international Non-Governmental Organizations or UN agencies addressing migration, employment, skills training, or other related issues in Honduras;

  • Ability to work collaboratively, support and manage negotiations, and reach consensus among multiple private sector stakeholders; and

  • Spanish fluency.
    Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the Honduran regulatory framework related to enterprises, business finance, and social involvement activities of private sector institutions; and

  • Experience working with the private sector or government agencies providing job skills training and job placement services in Honduras.
