Chemonics seeks a deputy chief of party for the anticipated five-year USAID School-Based Violence Prevention project in Honduras. The project aims to establish safe schools that promote positive youth development in high-risk municipalities. It will focus on strengthening local networks that increase school safety, increasing access to educational opportunities and safe learning environments, strengthening child protection systems to prevent and respond to school-based violence and gender-based violence, and improving services provided to students in conflict with the law. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide managerial and technical support to the chief of party, assisting in areas including project work planning, performance management, and strategic communications
- Supervise project subcomponents and activities
- Serve as the project's key liaison with USAID, government counterparts, and local partners
- Manage and supervise the work of project personnel and subcontractors
- Supervise the project's administrative team to ensure smooth project operations, timely implementation, and effective communication with the client and the home office
- Collaboratively create and implement a strategic, long-term programmatic vision
Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in education or international development
- Minimum five years of experience, with incremental responsibilities designing, implementing, and managing development projects, including efforts focused on education and/or crime prevention in Latin America
- Demonstrated experience interacting with government agencies, civil society stakeholders, and international donor agencies; USAID experience preferred
- Experience in monitoring, evaluation, and knowledge sharing preferred
- Strong interpersonal, writing, and oral presentation skills
- Familiarity with the political and social context in Honduras strongly preferred
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluency in English and Spanish required
