Honduras: Chief of party

Chemonics seeks a chief of party for the anticipated five-year USAID School-based Violence Prevention project in Honduras. The project aims to establish safe schools that promote positive youth development in high-risk municipalities. It will focus on strengthening local networks that increase school safety, increasing access to educational opportunities and safe learning environments, strengthening child protection systems to prevent and respond to school-based violence and gender-based violence, and improving services provided to students in conflict with the law. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide overall project leadership, management, and technical direction
  • Serve as the project's key liaison with USAID, government counterparts, and local partners
  • Manage and supervise the work of project personnel and subcontractors
  • Supervise the project's technical assistance team to ensure a focus on core results, achievement of work plan and targets, and timely implementation
  • Collaboratively create and implement a strategic, long-term programmatic vision
  • Oversee project work planning, performance management, and strategic communications

Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in education or international development
  • Minimum 10 years of experience designing, implementing, and managing large education or violence prevention projects, in conflict- or crime-affected areas; experience in Latin America preferred
  • Chief of party experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with government agencies, civil society counterparts, and international donor agencies; USAID experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, writing, and oral skills
  • Familiarity with the political and social context in Honduras and the Northern Triangle preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluency in English and Spanish required
