GENERAL FUNCTION
Internews will support the FHI 360 Civil Society and Media Activity in the development and implementation of a set of activities to advance citizen understanding and engagement, strengthen evidence-based advocacy and improve organizational capacity of traditional and non-traditional actors. The Media Training Specialist will support all training components including media capacity building and contributing to strategic communication activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Training implementation
- Provide targeted management on training implementation to ensure timely implementation and compliance of programmatic activities.
- Provide oversight in implementation of project activities; support and monitor administrative, financial, and contractual obligations.
- Support the Media Specialist Advisor in the curricula design for all training activities.
- Provide substantive support on logistic tasks, such as proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, among others.
- Manage partner relationships, such as, media outlets, civil society organizations, government, among others.
- Work alongside Project Director and the Media Specialist Advisor to develop plans for local and national events..
- Provide technical assistance, including analysis of consultants reports, participation in workshops, identification and administration of resource persons/trainers/consultants in support of projects
- Help produce training materials and project reports.
- When designated, represent Internews at conferences and events.
- Perform other duties as required.
Logistical support
- Provides logistical support for the organization of events in Honduras;
- Identify and book locations for the events in Honduras, liaise with location management for booking, catering and logistical arrangements.
- Serves as a principal liaison between trainers, consultants, and fellows and participants for all training activities.
- Make travel arrangements for technical experts, trainers, fellows, consultants, among others.
- Makes travel arrangements for project staff and consultants as required for their participation in project events;
Procurement of services and training monitoring
- Prepare project documentation and data collection for donor reporting, using USAID’s TRAINET Web System
- Assist with grants and finance staff to ensure partner subgrantees are meeting with deadlines and deliverables.
- Assist with monitoring and evaluation efforts.
- Support external consultants/trainers in the financial and narrative reporting on activities.
- Support finance staff with the journalism program budget as need it.
- Assist with partners and suppliers’ contracts and sub-grant agreements.
Manage and produce program content for HQ team regularly.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Self-starter and dynamic with strong level of self-awareness
- Experience of organization of events
- Experience designing training methodologies and journalism/media training curricula
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- A high level of numeracy skills, and ability to review, manage and carry out budget analysis
- Exceptional organizational and administration skills
Expertise in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Knowledge of USAID regulations and systems is a desirable
Good understanding of the grants and stipend cycle
Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member
A willingness and ability to adopt a hands-on approach
Strong communication, liaison and interpersonal skills to work effectively with people at all levels
Strong problem solving and creative thinking skills
Fluency in English is strongly preferred
