Project Description:

Creative Associates International (Creative) is seeking a Senior Finance Specialist for the anticipated USAID-funded School-Based Violence Prevention Activity in Honduras. Based in Tegucigalpa, the project will support the Secretariat of Education to improve the physical and social conditions in public schools, such as to reduce the risks to students associated with crime and violence. The project will work with local schools, communities and families to implement violence prevention measures and interventions, and will provide capacity-strengthening support to implementers of school-based programs and to support organizations to schools.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • S/he will work with Creative’s internal auditing system and Financial Comptroller to establish internal control systems, quality assurance, and accounting and financial reporting protocols for local subcontractors and/or sub-grantees;

  • S/he will supervise activity financial staff and program budget matters, including managing accounting and disbursement needs, verifying procurement compliance with USAID and Creative’s financial guidelines, managing sub-grants, overseeing staff and partner CSO training in financial systems, and assuring timely financial reporting to USAID;

  • S/he will likely supervise a grants component that is used to improve the environment and learning conditions in program schools.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Masters of Business and/or Public Administration, Masters in Accounting and/or Financial Management, or appropriate equivalent Master’s-level academic degree;

  • Eight (8) or more years of experience in financial management of international development activities with increasing levels of responsibility;

  • S/he should also have demonstrated experience and knowledge of capacity development and professional development;

  • Work experience in the Latin America – Caribbean Region is required, and experience in Honduras is preferred;

  • Familiarity with grants program oversight and compliance;

  • Professional proficiency in English and Spanish.
