Chemonics seeks a chief of party for the anticipated five-year, $20-million USAID Building Resilience in Ecosystems and Livelihoods project in Honduras. The project aims to improve the sustainability of ecosystem management and implementation of climate change adaptation activities in western Honduras. It will work with the poorest households in the region to increase economic benefits from sustainable natural resource management and conservation, and address technical areas including biodiversity conservation, agriculture best management practices, natural protected areas, watershed management, value chain strengthening, disaster risk reduction, community development, and governance. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide overall technical and managerial leadership, ensuring the project's targeted results are achieved on schedule, resources are used effectively, deliverables are of the highest quality, and partners are meeting their commitments
- Supervise a diverse project team
- Serve as the project's senior representative and manage relations with the Honduran government; USAID; and other key private, public, and international stakeholders
Qualifications:
Master's degree in natural resource management, forestry, watershed management, or other environmental-related field
Minimum 15 years of experience with increasing responsibility in climate change adaptation, community engagement, agricultural management, natural resource management, capacity building, or other relevant technical areas
Experience as a chief of party or a similar position in at least three projects of comparable scope
Proven exceptional leadership in the design, management, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of complex international donor programs with skills in strategic planning, management, supervision, and budgeting
Proven ability to develop and communicate a common vision among diverse public and private partners, as well as lead multidisciplinary teams
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to coordinate with a wide range of stakeholders to fulfill diverse technical and managerial requirements
Knowledge of USAID policies and procedures as related to project management preferred;
knowledge of the political, social, cultural, environmental, and development context of Honduras strongly preferredHonduran nationals are encouraged to apply, but Honduran citizenship is not required
